At Laplace Partners, we are taking a fresh step toward restoring the balance between work and life.
Some time ago, we experimented with a four-day workweek. While the idea was well-intentioned, it proved difficult to sustain. The world doesn't always pause when we do—clients continued to reach out on Fridays, and we often found ourselves pulled back into work.
This time, we're approaching the challenge more realistically and incrementally. We’re launching a new initiative called Breeze Friday.
Every Friday afternoon, we will step away from our desks for 0.5 days to focus on rest, creativity, and personal fulfillment. It’s not just about taking time off—it’s about using that time meaningfully:
Team members are encouraged to engage in hobbies, creative projects, or anything unrelated to work.
A small stipend will be provided to support your activities. (Yes, really!)
And there’s a shared commitment: to reflect on the experience and share stories with colleagues—laugh together, grow together, and inspire one another.
After this three-month pilot, our goal is to solidify Friday afternoons as protected downtime, and prepare the ground for a true four-day workweek in the near future.
If you or your organization has tried something similar, we’d love to hear from you. Let’s learn from each other and take this journey together—toward a healthier, more sustainable way to work.
